Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker, consultant, speaker, columnist syndicated writer, author and television presenter. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment which included 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence was her mother, who was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family often relied on free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who was drunk often and was rude to her mother. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was a failure in many classes during her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
